When a trauma surgeon is called up from Boston to cover a particularly difficult case, Cari finds him overbearing and extremely annoying but that doesn't stop him from remaining in her thoughts throughout the day and dreams throughout the night. Jeremy Brennan is an accomplished trauma surgeon at one of the biggest teaching hospitals in Boston, Massachusetts.

His career was his passion and left very little room for his personal life. He had dated many women but was beginning to think that he would need to settle when it came time to pick a wife. There just was never a woman who seemed to be the "right one".

That all changed when he walked into a small community hospital on a special trauma case. The young nurse manager caught his eye right away, but it was the way that she carried herself and the respect that she generated from her staff that kept his interest. She wasn't going to make it easy for him because she seemed a little gun shy, but he felt in his gut that she would be worth it and the more he got to know her he really began to feel that she was the "one".
