Some answers are still pending. Today I am grateful beyond words for the blessings found in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My faith is not invincible, but it has become much more resilient in the face of new questions and concerns.

As social media increasingly bombards members with specific doubts and criticisms, I am grateful for wise doctrinal and historical responses from LDS scholars. This book does not attempt to duplicate their work. Like me, they have usually concluded that reason and strong evidence support the Restoration of the gospel, but that many specific questions still wait to be resolved through revelation.

This book shares some of the perspectives I have gained while learning to trust the Lord in the meantime. These ideas have helped me find intellectual breathing space, where I can joyfully choose faith. Because I know your time is precious, and often interrupted, I've confined each perspective to a single page.

Part I shares ideas that helped me navigate that initial crisis of faith. This section somewhat resembles a personal narrative, but focuses specifically on the ideas themselves, which apply broadly beyond my own experience. Part II shifts in tone to share individual perspectives that came later, a piece at a time-not in dramatic plots, but here and there, in quiet pondering and ordinary conversations.

These bridge across chapter themes, but do not continue as a connected narrative. May these perspectives strengthen you, or someone you love, as they have me.
