Former Commander of the Saavedran legions, Gallotychus makes his way to the free city-state of Defile, hoping to find a life that does not revolve around blood and steel. Little does he realize however, that forces are at work which will test him to his utmost limits and beyond.

Out of the wild hills comes a hunter. The hides Arch brings to the city give him a taste of luxury, but always is he called back to the deep silence of the wild places. Ever is Arch testing his own skill and mettle, and when offered the chance to track a thief into an uncharted maze of canyons, he jumps at the chance to pit his skills against thinking prey.

Through vast deserts, labyrinthine canyons, and even the depths of the earth, the men must fight their way to the Red Mountain where a mad god lies sleeping.
