In the world of sports journalism, especially covering equestrian sports and bull riding, being a woman, and a person of color was not an easy task.

She was repeatedly told that she should find something else to cover. But she didn't give up, and she was the best at her job. When she is assigned to do a profile on the billionaire bad boy of bull riding, she is furious.

She thinks that he is a misogynistic pig, and that doing a profile of him is beneath her. What she finds is that the profiles of him are not entirely truthful, and that there is a person underneath the persona. A person she may actually like.

In fact, she may even love him... ----------------------------- EXCERPT FROM BOOK They went for a ride together in the beautiful Montana morning. The sun rose high into the sky as they trotted out of his pasture and into the wider world.

Of course, he still owned the land they were on, but that was only what a piece of paper said. Their eyes could see that nature owned the land. It was overgrown and scrubby, and it was like every Western movie panorama that Marina had ever seen.

As a child, she had a habit (that greatly annoyed her mother) of watching old John Wayne movies. Her mother felt the need to point out that John Wayne had been a racist, and a misogynist, and that the movies he starred in were generally equally so. Even as a child, these things were obvious enough to Marina, but she didn't care.

She didn't even know the plot of the movies. She watched them for the sweeping shots of skylines and people riding horses in a film. They were the only movies in which people reliably rode beautiful horses, and that was good enough for her.

Marina and Tate rode mostly in silence, but occasionally she would ask him a question and mentally note his answer. Her recorder wasn't on and their conversation didn't have the feel of interviewer, interviewee. They rode on further and further away from Tate's compound as the sun rose high into the sky, above their heads.

He seemed to know where he was going, so Marina followed along, the astonishing chestnut-colored horse she was riding, whose name was Halifax, never tiring as they went. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a 8,000 word stand-alone story with an HEA, so no cliff-hangers!
