Some brief overview of this book

This self-published memoir, effectively a banned book in Uganda, spans the life of John Kazoora from 1958 to 2012. The author joined the Ugandan Bush War early on after finishing university and later held important posts in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, including Special District Administrator of Kabale and later Kampala, Director in the Internal Security Organization (ISO), and MP for Kashari from 1996-2006.

However, in 2005 he defected to become a founding member of the opposition party Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), after opposing the elimination of presidential term limits. As implied by the title, the author argues that NRM - and, more precisely, President Museveni - has betrayed its founding principles and come to resemble the very regime it overthrew. Finding a copy of the book is difficult, as the government has apparently acquired most of the original copies and prevented further printings.
